Flying Cloud Booksellers is an independent bookshop offering children's and young adult collections that have been hand-selected to appeal to readers of all levels and temperaments, from the reluctant reader to the avid. Under direct supervision, the Children’s Curator partners with Bluepoint Senior Management to provide a successful curation of books for the customer experience. Duties

• Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to established recipes and standards. 
• Ensure all food preparation and handling practices comply with health and safety regulations. 
• Assist in the development of new pastry recipes and menu items to enhance customer offerings. 
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment. 
• Package finished products for display or delivery while ensuring quality presentation. 
• Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours. 
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing any inquiries or special requests regarding pastry items. 

Skills

• Proficiency in baking techniques and food preparation methods specific to pastries and desserts. 
• Knowledge of food handling practices within the food industry, ensuring safety and hygiene standards are met. 
• Experience in catering or restaurant environments is preferred but not required. 
• Strong attention to detail with a passion for creating visually appealing pastries. 
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards. 
• Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork and customer interaction. 
• A creative mindset with the ability to innovate and experiment with new flavors and presentations.
